Erect shrub, 1-3 m. Young branches hollow, slightly pubescent; winter buds with several pubescent outer scales. Leaves elliptic-ovate to ovate, 3-8 x 1,5-4,5 cm, acute or subobtuse, base rounded, pubescent, more densely so beneath. Inflorescence 2-flowered, axillary; peduncles 8-17 mm, longer than the petioles; bracts lanceolate, c. 2 mm, as long as ovary; bracteoles broad, c. ½ as long as bracts, glandular. Corolla yellowish-white, c. 10 mm, pubescent, gibbous, tube and limb subequal; ovary glandular. Berry red when ripe, 3-7 mm, simple. Fl. 5-6. Rocky ground, 900-1400 m.
