Dwarf caespitose, often prostrate perennial, with 1-4 cm stems growing from woody caudices. Leaves petiolate, lamina 1-2 cm, oblong to ovate-Ianceolate, tomentose, deeply lobed or pinnatisect, lobes entire or 2-4-dentate. Peduncles pilose, longer than leaves, bearing a single capitulum. Involucral bracts 8-12 mm, lanceolate, pilose, shorter than flowers. Corolla pink, mauve or purple. Involucel 4-5 mm, pilose; corona broadly dentate, hairy. Calyx with 14-21 setae 9-12 mm long. Fl. 6-8. Rocky slopes screes, 1000-2800 m.
