Erect, occasionally stoloniferous, nearly glabrous perennial. Roots numerous, slender, cylindrical. Stem hollow, sulcate, up to 1,5 m. Leaves all pinnate, lower long-petioled, upper sessile, 7-10-paired; lobes lanceolate. Inflorescence dense,  corymbose, 2,5-4 cm diam., spreading in fruit. Flowers white. Achene pubescent between the veins, becoming glabrous. Pappus segments 12-15. FI. 6-7. Screes, damp meadows, 1400-2200 m.

Europe except extreme N. & S., Caucasia, C. & N. Asia.
