Height 8-18 cm. Leaves sometimes all entire, 13-35 x 3-11 mm. Inflorescence ± loosely globular. Lower bracts 5 x 1 mm, herbaceous, sometimes exceeding the inflorescence; upper bracts smaller, membranous and webbed. Fruit c. 2,5 x 2-3 mm, often tenacious at least at first, later deciduous Fl. 4-5. Fallow fields, scree, 1000-1120 m.
E. & C. Europe, eastwards to Caucasia.
