Glabrous, glaucous annual. Stems erect, 20-35 cm. Lower leaves narrowly obovate, petiolate, upper leaves oblong to ovate; those of each pair connate at their bases. Bracts herbaceous, ovate, connate in pairs. Inflorescence lax, pedicels spreading. Sepals oblong-lanceolate, 6-9 mm, with scarious margins. Petals white, 9-11 mm. Capsule c. 2 x longer than the calyx. Fl. 4-6. Fields, 500-2800 m.
