Perennial. Stems ± erect, spreading-pilose, up to 30 cm. Leaves oblong-ovate, the lower somewhat petiolate, pilose. Inflorescence rather dense, many-flowered., Bracts entirely herbaceous. Sepals lanceolate, 5-7 mm, setose-pilose, with scarious margins. Petals ± equalling the sepals, claws glabrous. Ripe capsules only slightly exceeding the calyx, opening by revolute teeth.
The species is cosmopolitan.
