Perennial herb, ± suffructescent below. Stems 3-7.5 cm long, decumbent to ascending, scabrid. Leaves 4-16 x 0.6-1 mm, broadest at middle, linear, lineolate with a prominent midrib and less prominent lateral veins beneath, scabrid beneath when young becoming glabrous, glabrous above, scabrid-ciliate at margins, acute at apex. Inflorescence 1-4-flowered. Bracteoles 4-6, 1/2 calyx length, lanceolate-ovate to oblong-ovate with a long acuminate or subulate apex, green or scarious, never reddish or purplish, ciliate at margins and rarely on midrib otherwise glabrous. Calyx 10-11 x 3 mm, ± cylindrical, widest about the middle, striate, green, teeth c. 2.5 x 1 mm, triangular, acuminate, scarious and ciliate at margins. Petal limb 4-5 x 2 mm, lemon yellow above, flesh-red beneath, dentate, barbulate. Capsule slightly exserted from calyx. Seeds to 2.5 x 1.2 mm, blackish. Fl. 8. Calcareous fields, 2100 m.
