Perennial, entirely glabrous or bracts and calyx glandular-hairy. Rhizome woody. Stems several, woody at the base, rigid, 10-70 cm. Leaves linear, triquetrous or flat, 10-60 x 0,5-3 mm, narrowly acuminate. lnflorescence a dense globose cluster, 4-18 mm diam., with ± numerous, sessile flowers. Bracts oblong to ovate, acuminate. Calyx campanulate, 3-4,5 mm, with ± acuminate teeth. Petals 4·5-7 mm, white to pale pink, linear, obtuse. Seeds with acute tubercles.
