Perennial, glabrous above, with long glandular hairs on lower parts of stem and lower leaves. Rhizome stout. Stems several, 40-150 cm, erect or ascending at base. Leaves ± glaucous, linear-lanceolate, 10-50 x 1-5 mm, acuminate. Inflorescence forming alarge, many-flowered, diffuse panicle. Bracts deltoid, scarious, with purple midrib. Pedicels 2-6 mm. Calyx campanulate, 2 mm, teeth orbicular-ovate, obtuse, with broad scarious margins. Petals 2-4 mm, linear-spathulate, obtuse, white to pale pink. Seeds with obtuse tubercles. Fl. 7-8. Mountain steppe, c. 1550 m.
Endemic to Ararat.
