Glabrous perennial, tufted, with 3-10 prostrate to ascending, 5-50 cm, ± branched stems. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 10-60 x 1-8 mm, obtuse to subacute, scarious. Infiorescence lax, dichasial. Bracts triangular to lanceolate, acuminate. Pedicels 5-30 mm, capillary. Calyx 3-4 mm, campanulate, with ovate, obtuse to apiculate teeth. Petals 5-8 mm, obcordate-cuneate to obovate, emarginate, white or pink-suffused, often with purple veins. Seeds with obtuse tubercles. Fl. 6-8. Banks, rocky igneous sfopes, pastures, 1800-2700 m.
