Annual, the stems 4-12 mm, with usually conspicuously regular alternating branches. Stems densely pubescent with stiffiy spreading hairs. Leaves up to 8 x 2,5 mm, elliptic to oblanceolate, covered with stiff hairs, or the older ones occasionally only ciliate; stipules ciliate. Flowers 1-1,5 mm, in dense clusters, often contiguous on short lateral branches. Sepals 5, covered with stiff, whitish, spreading hairs. Stamens usually 2-3. Fruit scarcely equalling the sepals, with a short style with 2 erect or sometimes somewhat divergent stigma lobes. FI. 3-7. Dry and stony places, s.I.-1700 m.
