Erect annual herbs, glabrous or with leaf margins at most ciliate. Rosette leaves obovate, petiolate. Stem leaves sessile, oblong, obtuse. Flowers 3-5, usually maturing one by one from the stem axis, the buds remaining sessile and enclosed by the bracts. Pedicels erect and straight at least until young fruit or later. Petals 1-1,5 x sepals, the claw ciliate. Stamens 10. Capsules 7-8 mm. Fl. 4. Stony places, 700-1000 m.
