Stout erect annual, 10-40 cm, with short, dense, retrorse indumentum below, densely viscid-glandular above. Leaves oblong or oblanceolate below, lanceolate above. Inflorescence 3-20-flowered. Calyx 20-30 mm, the nerves pronounced and covered with short glandular hairs in fruit enlarging greatly to 11-14 mm broad. Petals pinkish, the limb ± bidentate and eroded at the apex. Anthophore 1-2 mm. Capsule 15-19 mm, with a long narrow neck, included in the calyx. Fl. 5-7. Fields, 500-1800 m.
