Stems erect, 35-70 cm, densely villose-lanate with long white hairs. Leaves oblong to very narrowly elliptic to broadly lanceolate, acute, with an indumentum like that on the stem. Inflorescence cymose, few-flowered, the flowers on long pedicels. Calyx 15-20mm with an indumentum like that on the stem. Petals purplish to carmine, 20-25 mm, the limb entire or emarginate. Anthophore c. 2 mm. FI. 6-9. Forests, roadside banks, s.l.-1300 m.
