Glabrous perennial up to 90 cm. Lower leaves obovate, fleshy, glaucous, overlapping; upper leaves oblanceolate to lanceolate, distant. Inflorescence a compound dichasium, often raceme-like. Calyx 11-13 mm, greenish, with 10 purplish, anastomosed nerves, not inflated. Petals white or livid, deeply bipartite. Anthophore glabrous 2·5-3 mm. Capsule ovoid or ovoid-globose, 7-10 mm. FI. 5-7. Screes, slopes, cliffs, s.I.-1600 m.
