Perennial. Stems erect, up to 35 cm, retrorsely puberulent. Lower leaves obovate to narrowly elliptic, acute. Cauline leaves 1-nerved, linear-oblong , puberulent. Inflorescence a widely branched panicle. Calyx 12-18 mm, the veins conspicuous, densely puberulent in fruit, glandular, inflated and contracted at the apex in fruit. Petals greenish white. Anthophore 3-5 mm. Capsule narrowly ovoid, acuminate, included in the inflated calyx. Fl. 5-7. Slopes, steppe, 1300-2000 m.
