Perennial with erect stems 10-30 cm, puberulent to pilose, often glandular or viscid above. Basal leaves linear, narrowly oblanceolate or oblanceolate, 25-60 x 4-7 mm; cauline leaves very narrowly elliptic to lanceolate, much smaller than the lower leaves; all puberulent to pilose. Flowers solitary or 3-5 in a dichasial cyme. Calyx 22-27 mm, reticulately veined, somewhat inflated in fruit, pilose, sometimes glandular. Petals white, auriculate, the limb divided to about 1/3 of its length. Anthophore 11-14 mm, puberulent or glabrous. Capsule ovoid. Fl. 6-9. Rocky slopes and screes, 1500-3600 m.
