Robust perennial herb, 40-100 cm, glandular-hirsute. Leaves lanceolate, 1-nerved, sessile, sometimes cordate at the base, margins frequently undulate. Inflorescence a long narrow panicle, the main axis 15-30 cm, the branches short, occasionally 1-flowered. Calyx 17-23 mm, glandular-hairy. Petals 25-35 mm, the claws considerably exserted from the calyx, the limb deeply bilobed into obovate segments. Anthophore 4-5 mm. Capsule c. 15 mm, sometimes bursting out of the calyx. Fl 8.
