Annual or biennial herb with slender tap-root. Stems 3-30 cm, slender, ascending. Leaves mucronate, not fleshy, not or only slightly fasciculate. Stipules short, triangular . Inflorescence much-branched, very slender, without upper bracts. Sepals 2-3 mm. Petals lilac , narrowly elliptic, equalling the sepals. Stamens 2-3. Capsule 1.5-3 mm, subglobose, about equalling the sepals; valves usually purplish-black. Seeds 0,6-0,7 mm, unwinged, dark brown to black, rugulose or bristling with rigid papillae. Fl. 3-7. Saline waste places, nr. s.l.
