Dwarf, prostrate shrub, with young and calyces densely white-tomentose. Leaves exstipulate, alternate, linear, below the lowest flower 9-11 per inch, not or only slightly diminishing towards the inflorescence. Flowers few, lateral and solitary or in leafy terminal groups, the pedicels erect at the base and recurved from about the middle. Capsules 6-8-seeded, 12-ovular, gaping. Fl. 6-8. Especially chalk and gypsum hills, 250-1300 m.
