Stem strongly twisting and climbing to 4 m or more. Leaves ± sagittate or cordate; sinus rounded. Bracteoles 18-40 mm broad when flattened, overlapping each other, saccate at base, obtuse to emarginate at apex . Corolla 55-75 mm, white. Stamens 28-40 mm; anthers 6-8 mm. Fl. 4-8. Forest margins, scrub, hedges, etc., s.l.-1450 m.
Mediterranean area from Spain and N.W. Africa eastwards to Balkans; Crimea, Caucasia and N. Iran.
