Differs from C. compactus in its spreading-hairy, linear or linear-spathulate 10-20 x 2-4 mm leaves, larger, rose-pink flowers and smaller sepals with hairs to 1 mm. Fl. 5-6. Grazed, rocky eroded slopes and steppe, occasionally in lalloll' fields, limestone and sandy soils, 750-2060 m.
