Prostrate herbaceous perennial, with dense shining tomentum and creeping underground stems. Leaves petiolate, broadly ovate, obtuse or acute, base cordate, undulate, broadly crenate to dentate. Flowers axillary, solitary or in 2-4-flowered cymes. Outer sepals ovate, apiculate, densely tomentose. Corolla pink to light purple, 25-35 mm. Ovary usually hairy at apex. Fl. 5-8. Pinus woods, open steppe, stony slopes, meadows, clultivated and fallow fields, usually calcareous, 880-2000 m.
