Caudex absent, roots fibrous; flowering rosettes monocarpic; offsets c. 1 cm diam., scapes c. 5 cm, terminal. Leaves spathulate to obovate, concave, 8-11 mm, with a few ciIiae, otherwise glabrous though slightly papillate near the apex. Inflorescence 2-12-flowered, cymose-paniculate, glandular-pubescent. Flowers whitish with red striae; pedicels 2-10 mm, calyx c. 6 mm; corolla 11-12 mm, lobes about as long as tube; scales quadrate. Follicles c. 5 mm, glandular over the whole surface; seeds reniform, Fl. 7. Serpentine rocks, 2000-3000 m.

Var giganteum
Differs from the type variety by its large rosettes, 7-11 cm in diam., densely glandular pubescent, broadly pyramidal, paniculate or thyrsoid inflorescences and larger flowers 13-15 mm long. On serpentine, 100-150 m. 
Endemic to SW. Turkey.
