Stems prostrate; branches lax, arched, scrambling and brittle, striate. Leaf sheaths shortly cyathiform, bifid, lobes acute when young, becoming erose. Male flowers up to 10 per fascicle, 2-4 fascicles per node. Female flowers in pairs. Berry 8-9 mm.
