Minutely papillose glaucous annual to 40 cm. Stems usually much-branched at base. Lower cauline leaves densely imbricate, linear-setaceous, 5-45 x 0.2-1 mm, acute, entire; upper cauline leaves and ray-leaves linear-oblanceolate, 20-50 x 1-8 mm. Raylet-leaves falcate-lanceolate to trullate or ovate-rhombic, 5-30 x 3-13 mm, entire or irregularly toothed, rounded or cuneate. Rays 3-5, up to 5-8 times dichotomous; axillary rays 0-15. Glands long-horned. Fruit trilobate, 2.5 mm diam., finely granulate. Seeds ovoid-subglobose, subtetragonous, 1.3 mm, minutely tuberculate, pale grey, with minute readily deciduous caruncle. Fl. 5-9, Dry stony slopes, serpentine hills, steppe, streamsides, fields and roadsides, 150-1350 m.
Mediterranean area eastwards from Tunisia and Corsica to Palestine, Crimea, Caucasia, N. Iraq and W.lran.
