Sparingly pilose to subglabrous perennial. Stems 1-several, to 30 cm but usually much shorter, often much-branched, prostrate, decumbent-ascending or ± erect, arising from a napiform root-tuber. Cauline and ray-leaves ovate-oblong, oblong, elliptic-oblong or linear-oblong, 1-2 x 0.2-0.5 cm, obtuse, subentire or else serrulate in upper half, ± rounded at base. Raylet leaves ovate-rhombic to transversely ovate, 0.3-1 x 0.3-1.3 cm, rounded-cuneate. Rays 3-5, not or once dichotomous; axillary rays 1-3. Fruit trilobate, 3-4 mm diam., covered with shortly cylindrical often purplish warts, glabrous. Seeds ovoid-subglobose, 1.5-2 mm, smooth, shiny, dark brown; caruncle prominent, hemispherical. Fl. 3-4. Metamorphic rocks, serpentine, limestone, clay in Quercus and Pinus brutia forest, Corylus & Crataegus scrub, macchie, field margins, 150-1200 m.
