Pilose or villous annual herb to 50 em, resembling E. gaillardotii in habit. Cauline and ray-leaves oblanceolate, 2-6 x 0.5-1.5 em, acute, subacute or obtuse, usually tapered to base, finely serrulate to subentire. Raylet-leaves oblong-ovate or ovate-lanceolate to ovate, 1-4 x 0.5-2 cm, cuneate or rounded. Rays 3, repeatedly dichotomous; axillary rays 2-5. Fruit strongly trilobate, 5 mm diam., finely granulate, villous. Seeds ovoid-subglobose, 2.5 mm, smooth, greyish-brown, ecarunculate. FI.5-7. On chalky marl in steppe, fallow fields and cultivated ground, 650-1850 m.
