Similar to E. virgata, but differing by its more robust habit, with stems to 8 mm diam. at base, and cauline leaves ovate to broadly ovate-lanceolate, to 3.5 cm broad, with several pairs of prominent lateral nerves. Fl. 6-8. Deciduous Quercus scrub, stony slopes and screes, pastures, Artemisia and Astragalus steppe, 1700-3500 m.
