Glabrous glaucous caespitose perennial, stems several, to 60 cm, arising from a woody stock. Cauline leaves linear or oblong-linear, 10-40 x 1-5 mm, acute or subacute, entire, somewhat coriaceous. Ray-leaves linear-lanceolate to ovate. Raylet-leaves ovate-rhombic to transversely ovate, 5-15 x 5-15 mm, apex subacute, mucronate, base cuneate to truncate. Rays 7-38, to 5 times dichotomous; axillary rays 2-15. Glands transversely ovate, truncate, hornless. Fruit trilobate, 3-3.5 mm diam., smooth, glabrous. Seeds ovoid to ellipsoid, 2 mm, ± smooth, pale grey, sometimes brownish-mottled, with a ± hemispherical caruncle. Fl. 3-10. Forest, scrub, steppe, rocky slopes, streamsides, fallow fields, roadsides, 10-1900 m.
