Glabrous, subglabrous or minutely puberulous annual, 10-20 cm, Stems usually 2-branched from base. Cauline and ray-leaves linear, oblong-linear or linear-oblanceolate, 3-23 x 1-4 mm, acute, obtuse, truncate, emarginate or tricuspidate, entire. Raylet-leaves lanceolate, trullate, rhombic, deltoid or transversely ovate, 0.5-1.5 x 0.3-1.6 cm, rounded, cuneate or truncate. Rays 3-5, to 8 x dichotomous; axillary rays 0-2. Glands usually long-horned. Fruit trilobate, 2.5-3 mm diam., keels granulate. Seeds ovoid, 2 mm, irregularly pitted or reticulate, pale grey, depressions darker; caruncle prominent, ± hemispherical, white. Fl. 3-8. Quercus [Phillyrea woodland, Pinus brutia woodland, macchie, phrygana, stony places, marshy meadows and fallow fields, s.l.-1500 m.
