Dwarf, scapose, perennial herb, with a branched prostrate woody caudex. Leaves 1-2 cm; leaflets 2-3 rom, elliptic, shortly white adpressed bifurcatepilose, 4-7-paired; stipules c.6 rom triangular-Ianceolate, drying brownish. Peduncles 2-3 cm. Inflorescence 1-2 cm diam., a dense, globose, 10-20-flowered spike, usually elongating in fruit. Bracts c. 3 mm, linear-lanceolate. Calyx 7-9 mm, tubular-campanulate, predominantly short white spreading bifurcate-villous, though usually with a few black bifurcate hairs; teeth c. 2 mm, narrowly triangular. Corolla yellow, drying pinkish; standard 12-14 mm, lamina obovate-oblong. Legume c. 6 x 3 mm, oblong, densely white bifurcate-pilose to villous; beak c. 2 mm, curved. FI. 5-7. Alpine meadows, etc., 900-2300 m.
