Dwarf cushion-forming shrub, 10-20 cm. Leaf rachis spiny, 3-5 cm, straight or curved. Leaflets 7-12 mm, linear-elliptic, mucronate, sparsely ± spreading simple- pilose, 5-6-paired. Stipules 7-12 mm, triangular-lanceolate, glabrous or sparsely pilose. Flowers sessile, 4-5 per leaf axil. Inflorescence globose to oblong, 3-4 cm diam., 10-50-flowered. Bracts 10-13 mm, linear-oblong to ovate, navicular, densely white-pilose towards the apex. Bracteoles 10-15 mm, linear, densely pilose, resembling the calyx lobes. Calyx 14-18 mm, divided to the base though apparently forming a tube 2-5 mm long. Corolla drying purplish; standard 18-24 mm. Style hairy. Fl. 6-7. Mountainous districts, etc. 500-2130 m.
