Erect, lax, unarmed shrub, 30-100 cm tall. Leaves 5-9 cm; leaflets 10-30 mm, narrowly elliptic, sparsely adpressed bifurcate-pilose, 6-9-paired; stipules 4-6 mm, subulate from a triangular base, free from one another but joined to the petiole. Peduncles 3-4 cm. Inflorescence c. 2.5 cm diam., a dense, globose, 10-20-flowered raceme or spike with subsessile flowers. Bracts 3-5 mm, linear-lanceolate. Calyx 10-11 mm, tubular, villous with black bifurcate and white simple hairs; teeth c. 2 mm, linear. Corolla reddish-violet; standard 18-20 mm. Legume 10-16 xc. 3 mm, narrowly oblong, terete, long white and shorter black bifurcate-pilose, sometimes becoming glabrous; beak 2-4 mm. FI. 6-7. Amongst scrub, c. 1650 m.
