Subcaulescent perennial with a woody base. Leaves-6-20 cm; leaflets 5-9 mm, obovate to orbicular, retuse, simple-adpressed-strigillose, sparsely so above, 10-14-paired; stipules 6-9 mm, ovate-lanceolate to orbicular, membranous. Peduncles 1,5-4 cm. Inflorescence a globose to shortly cylindrical, 7-30-flowered spike. Bracts c. 3 mm, lanceolate. Calyx 4-5 mm, tubular-campanulate to campanulate, sparsely short black ± spreading simple-hairy; teeth c. 1 mm, linear, blunt. Flowers white; standard 10-12 mm. Legume 14-17 xc. 3 mm, cylindrical, slightly curved, pendulous, white crisped-pilose to ± glabrous; beak c. 1 mm. Fl. 5-6. Alpine meadows, limestone slopes, 1500-2800 m.
