Dwarf shrub, stems c. 5 cm. Leaf rachis spiny 18-30 cm, straight or incurved. Leaflets narrowly elliptic, spine-tipped, sparsely simple-tomentose, sometimes glabrescent, 8-10-paired. Stipules 18-20 mm, lanceolate, sparsely pilose. Flowers sessile in the leafaxils. Inflorescence oblong to shortly cylindrical, 5-7 cm diam., at least 100-flowered. Bracts 12-14 mm, linear, pilose towards the apex. Bracteoles absent. Calyx 12-16 mm, densely long-pilose; lobes incurved, divided to the base, though apparently forming a tube up to c. 7 mm long. Corolla pale yellow; standard 20-24 mm. Fl. 6-7. Mountain steppe, cultivated ground etc. 1620-1800 m.
