Small, stout-stemmed shrub. Leaf rachis spiny, 2-5 cm, stout, flattened below. Leaflets 10-20 mm, narrowly elliptic, spine-tipped, simple-sericeous-tomentose sometimes becoming tomentose, 4-8-paired; stipules 12-18 mm, lanceolate, glabrous though ciliate. Flowers sessile, 4-6 per leaf axil. Inflorescence globose, 3-5 cm diam., 30-100-flowered. Bracts 10-15 mm, linear-spathulate to lanceolate-navicular, densely short-villous in the upper half of the dorsal surface. Bracteoles absent, or 8-20 mm, linear-spathulate, shortly villous above. Calyx 14-20 mm, densely long-villous; lobes divided almost to the base. Corolla pink; standard 17-26 mm. Fl. 6-7. Calcareous screes, cliffs, etc., 1000-2400 m.
