Prostrate annual or perennial with spreading-hairy stems up to 30 cm. Leaves 4-10 cm; leaflets 4-12 mm, obovate, usually retuse, ±glabrous above, adpressedsimple- pilose below, 9-13-paired; stipules 7-10 mm, triangular-ovate, white-hairy. Flowers in lax or dense 3-10-flowered racemes. Bracts 4-5 mm, ovate, black-hairy. Calyx 9-12 mm, tubular, black- and white-simple-pilose; teeth 4-6 mm. Corolla cream or buff-yellow, sometimes pinkish; standard 20-25 mm. Legumes 20-35 x 10-12 mm, ovoid-oblong, curved, with broad dorsal furrow, tuberculate or ± smooth, sparsely white-pilose; beak 2-10 mm, curved. Fl. 4-6. Woods, fields, limestone slopes, dunes, s.l.-1500 m.
