Shortly pubescent perennial, 20-40 cm. Leaves arising at ground level from a thick rootstock. Leaflets 30-70 x 20-50 mm, broadly ovate to ±orbicular, irregularly dentate. Inflorescence a 20-50-flowered, densely compacted raceme of 3-6 cm. Bracts simple, setaceous. Calyx teeth setaceous, dusky-hirsute. Corolla 12-15 mm, creamy-white. Fruit hirsute above, c. 10 x 5 mm, excluding a 10 mm ensiform beak. Seed adnate to the pericarp. Fl. 5-8. Rock ledges and banks, 450-1950 m.
