Plant 20-30 cm with short and dense greyish-white indumentum, hairs spreading. Leaves with 3-4 pairs of leaflets; leaflets elliptic to lanceolate, often folded, mucronate to shortly acuminate, 15-20 x 5-8 mm. Peduncle 6-10 cm. Flower-heads spherical to spherical-ovoid, becoming elongated in fruit, 2,5-6 x 2,5-4 cm. Outer bracts ovate, acuminate, 6-8 x 4-5 mm. Calyx longer than corolla, 15-17 mm; teeth unequal, often recurvate, two upper 7-8 mm, three lower 10-11 mm. Corolla 10-12 mm, purple, glabrous, lamina of keel half as long as its claw. Fl. 5-7. Rocky limestone slopes, 900-1800 m.
