Subglabrous perennial, drying blackish. Stems erect, branched, 40-75 cm, not winged. Leaves pinnate, aristate; leaflets 3-5-paired, elliptic, 10-30 x 4-13 mm, subobtuse; stipules narrowly lanceolate, often semi-sagittate. Peduncles usually slightly longer than leaves, closely 3-8-flowered. Flowers 10-14 mm, purplish, becoming blue. Calyx 4,5-6,5 mm; teeth unequal, usually shorter than tube. Legumes linear, 40-50 xc. 5 mm, glabrous. Seeds 6-10, smooth. FI. 5-6. Forests and Quercus scrub, shady places, nr. s.I.-1000 m.
