Lanate annual, with tawny indumentum, 10-40 cm. Leaflets 15-70 x 5-15 mm, obovate, mucronate, hairy on upper and lower surfaces. Racemes 5-12 cm; lower flowers alternate the upper irregularly verticellate. Peduncles 3-8 mm. Calyx with upper lip bipartite and the lower lip deeply tridentate. Corolla 10-14 mm, blue, the standard and keel with white blotches. Legume 30-50 x 10-12 mm, 3-4-seeded, densely brown-lanate. Seeds smooth, variegated. Fl. 3-5. Light sandy soils nr. s.l. Native, cultivated and sometimes naturalised.
