Perennial herb, stems procumbent or ascending, 15-70 cm, adpressed-pubescent or glabrous. Stipules entire or toothed in lower part. Leaves similar in shape to M. sativa, leaflets 2-20 x 2-6 rom. Peduncle much longer than petiole, raceme 1-2 x as long as broad, 5-22-flowered. Flowers 8-11 mm, bright yellow. Calyx teeth subulate, 1-2 x as long as conical green calyx tube. Fruits nearly straight to crescentic, 8-11 xc. 2,5 mm, inconspicuously transverse-nerved, adpressed-pilose or glabrescent. Seeds 2-5, 2-2,5 mm long, yellowish-brown. 2n = 16, 32. Fl. 5-8. Deciduous woodland, macchie, rocky slopes, 100-2150 m.
