Prostrate or procumbent annual with branched stems, 5-45 cm high. Leaves with 5-9 pairs of linear-oblong leaflets; indumentum of few adpressed or spreading long hairs; stipules united, 2-toothed. Peduncles usually shorter than leaves, 2,5-5,5 cm. Inflorescence 2-5-flowered. Calyx 4-6 mm, including 3,5-5 mm teeth. Corolla pink or pinkish-mauve; standard 4-6 mm; wings 3,5-5 mm; keel 4-6 mm. Ovary glabrous, 1-ovulate. Fruit 7-10 x 7-10 mm, semi-orbicular in outline, hirtulous, foveolate and toothed on disc and with numerous spiny hooked teeth on the crest. Fl 4-5. Rocky slopes, fallow fields, disturbed steppe, roadsides, often near the sea, 0-800 m.
