Perennial with branched, erect-ascending, thick stems up to 60 cm, and a pilose spreading indumentum. Leaves with 3-5 pairs of ovate-oblong acute leaflets, pilose below, glabrous above; stipules free, c. 6 mm long. Peduncles longer than the leaves. Inflorescence many-flowered, lax. Calyx 6-8 mm, including 3-5 mm teeth. Corolla pale or creamy yellow; standard with red veins, rarely absent, 14-20 mm, emarginate; wings 4-6 mm with a horizontal or retrorse tooth; keel 13-19 mm. Fruit 14-19 x 11-16 mm, orbicular to reniform, glabrous or pubescent, crest with very short teeth or subentire, disc with short hard spines or unarmed. Fl 4-6. Rocky slopes, limestone banks, meadows, 600-1850 m.
