Annual, glandular-pubescent or glabrescent, erect, ascending or prostrate, 10-70 cm, many-branched. Leaves trifoliolate, the upper simple; leaflets acutely serrate, broadly elliptic to obovate-oblong, 8-20 x 3-13 mm. Flowers subsessile, forming dense terminal racemes with scarious white subimbricate stipules. Calyx tubular, 8-10 mm; lobes lanceolate to triangular-lanceolate, many-nerved, as long as tube. Corolla pink to purple or white with purple standard, glabrous, 9-12 mm. Legume ovate-oblong, glandular-hairy, 5-6 x 3-4 mm, 2-4-ovuled. Seeds tubercled, orbicular, 2 mm. Fl. 4-6. Dry slopes, waste ground, maritime rocks and sands, s.l.-200 m.
