Erect to ascending annual, 20-50 cm. Stipules with free portions ovate. Leaflets 1-2 cm, broadly obovate with rounded or retuse apices. Inflorescence oblong, later elongating, 1-1,5 cm wide, pedunculate. Calyx tube 10-nerved, adpressedhairy, open in fruit, but narrowed by a thickened ring; teeth equal, setaceous, acute. Corolla yellowish-white to deep red, 10-15 mm, equalling to much exceeding the calyx. Fl. 5-8. Meadows, roadsides, etc.
