Differs from V. narbonensis by its fewer leaflets -paired) that are ovate to orbicular, often larger and usually entire, and by its fewer paler, bicoloured flowers, the corolla being 2 ½ -3 x as long as the calyx, the limb of the standard usually lilac and as long as or shorter than the claw, rather reflexed and only slightly longer than the whitish, dark-tipped wings, the legume generally wider and densely pilose. Fl. 3-5. Rocky limestone slopes, fields and waste ground, s.l.-1300 m.
