Perennial, sparsely pubescent, with a creeping rootstock. Stems weakly erect or scrambling. Leaflets 4-6-paired, 10-30 x 5-12 mm, narrowly ovate, subobtuse to emarginate; stipules semi-sagittate, toothed, the upper entire; tendril branched. Peduncle much shorter than flowers, 2-5-flowered. Calyx 7-9 mm, purplish, mouth somewhat oblique; teeth subulate, ± unequal, the lowest subequal to tube. Corolla dusky lilac-blue, 12-15 mm. Legume narrowly oblong, 20-25 x 7 mm, glabrous, shortly beaked, 4-7-seeded. Fl. 6-7. Edge of Picea forest, Rhododendron luteum scrub, river banks, 1450-2100 m.
