Procumbent or ascending annual or biennial. Stems strigulose, 10-30 cm. Basal leaves oblong, pinnately lobed to pinnatifid, segments crenate-dentate. Cauline leaves ± pinnatisect, with incised or acutely pinnatifid segments. Bracts several. Sepals 6-7 mm, enlarging to 9-13 mm in fruit, acute, obscurely nerved, glandular; awn 0,5-1 mm. Petals c.2 x sepals, mauvish-pink. Beak of fruit 7-10 cm. Mericarps 8-10 mm, adpressed-setose, with deep eglandular foveoles with 2 deep furrows beneath. Fl. 3-5. Sandy waste places, dry woodland, schistose banks, s.l.-700 m.
